Unless you're watching 4k disc, you're getting major compression. Smooth gradation is such an important feature because of all the low bit rate content from streaming services. Of course it also cleans up the color banding. It has better specular highlights and useable brightness that doesn't hide detail. the sun is fully visible and much brighter on the x900f vs being blown out on the x900 h. When you look at the sun in the morrocco 4k hdr demo, there is a striking difference. The cinema mode allows whites to really pop with brightness on the x900f in a way the x900h can't get close to.
Motion is pretty similar and great on both sets(original FW on the x900h), but you can fine tune it a bit more with the x900f. Not only does it have smooth gradation, which is amazing, but it's got better brightness(especially on highlights), better tone mapping, better processor and better contrast with a more clear picture. It's so much of a difference it's almost like they are not even competing sets. I paid half of retail for a barely used set. It's especially annoying because I know most people apparently have no dse and only vignetting. If I could exchange for another x900f I would, but I can't obviously. The picture quality of this x900f is FAR superior to the x900 h. Owning and seeing both these tvs side by side really tells the story. Really inexcusable to have an x900 h that far below the x900f.
